Fundraising
Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity has pledged to raise £450,000 this year (and every year) in order to ensure the continued provision of the much needed services at this hospice including:
- Day Hospice
- Lymphoedema Clinic
- Children’s Hospice at Home
- Inpatient nursing
- Community Nurse Specialists bringing care into the patient’s home
- Bereavement listening
- Volunteering
Whilst we are very fortunate to receive many individual donations and legacies, our small, but professional team, promote the work of Florence Nightingale Hospice to public bodies/authorities, local companies and institutions including schools and colleges, the general public and the press.
Monies are raised through local community events many that have become regular and well known in the area such as the beer festival, quiz nights, bingo and bazaars. We hold annual campaigns such as selling sunflowers, Christmas toys and badges and The Tree of Light – to light up a life. The Hospice Lottery Partnership is very popular and an excellent source of income. We also encourage everyone to join the charity by subscribing on an on-going annual basis.
Local businesses support us by pledging help through sponsorship, which can be in the form of time, goods, services or money. Many formalise their commitment by signing up to our Corporate Companion scheme, which is a great way for them to meet their Corporate Social Responsibility programme and for us to benefit in so many ways.
Another great source of income is from our sales outlets. We currently have 5 shops (Aylesbury, Chinnor, Old Amersham, Wendover and Winslow), and a furniture warehouse (Chamberlain Road, Aylesbury) that offers good quality secondhand furniture and electrical items donated by the public.
We also offer people the opportunity to buy and sell on eBay with one-third commission on the selling price coming to the charity.
Every contribution and attendance at our events is much appreciated and vital to the continued success of the charity.
